How to bulk edit locations in Stockist

After you’ve added your store or retailer listings to your Stockist Store Locator map, you might need to edit some location details later on.

If you just need to change a couple of locations, it’s possible to edit any store through the Stockist dashboard by clicking on the location and updating the details directly. However, if you need to modify multiple locations at once, there are a couple of options that may be easier:

Bulk editing locations in the Stockist dashboard

If you need to make the same change to several locations at once, Stockist has a built-in way to edit multiple locations. This option can make the following changes:
  • Set the same value on multiple listings for any of the following fields: Store name, Phone number, Website, Email address, Image/logo URL, Notes, Visibility, Priority, and any custom fields
  • Delete/clear the values from any of the fields above
  • Add or remove a search filter from locations
The steps to make changes are:
  1. In Stockist, open the All locations page
  2. Optionally, you can search or filter the listings shown on the page to see just the relevant stores:

  3. The page normally shows 25 listings at a time. If you need to modify more listings at once, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Show 1000 to show as many stores per page as possible:

  4. Tick the checkboxes next to the listings to edit. You can also click the top checkbox to select or de-select all listings on the page:

  5. A Bulk actions menu will appear once listings are selected. Choose Bulk actions > Make bulk changes:

  6. Under Field to change, select the field to update. For example, you could select the "Website” field if you'd like to update all the selected listings to have the same website link:

  7. Under Change to, enter the value to set for the field for all selected locations:

To remove/clear the field from the selected locations, leave the Change to box blank.

  8. If you need to change multiple fields for the selected locations, click Add another change.

For example, the following settings will (1) set the "Website" field for all selected stores to "https://example.com", (2) make the stores visible, and (3) remove the "Free WiFi" filter from any selected stores that have the filter:

  9. Click Preview changes:

  10. Confirm that the changes look correct, then click Update locations:

  11. If there are multiple pages of listings to update, repeat steps 4 to 10 for any subsequent pages

Making bulk changes via a spreadsheet

If you need to make different changes to different locations, or if you have so many listings that the page-by-page approach above isn't convenient, another approach is to edit the listings in your account using a spreadsheet program like Excel or Google Sheets. This involves exporting your listings from Stockist as a CSV file, making changes in a spreadsheet program, and then re-uploading the revised file to update your map.
The steps for this are:
  1. In Stockist, open Locations > Bulk export
  2. Click Download locations as CSV
  3. Open the downloaded CSV file in your preferred spreadsheet program (e.g. Excel or Google Sheets), and make updates to the information in the sheet as needed
  4. Once you’re finished making changes, re-save the file as a CSV file. If your spreadsheet was auto-saved as a different format (e.g. ".xlsx"), you may need to follow the steps in our article for saving a CSV file.
  5. In Stockist, open Locations > Bulk import and click Start an import
  6. Upload your CSV file and follow the prompts to complete the import process
  7. In the final step where you publish your import, choose This import contains a complete list of all stores:

This will ensure that your list is uploaded as a replacement list rather than duplicating the existing listings in your account.

Once the steps above are complete, your map will be updated with the changes that were made in Excel or Google Sheets.
